November 25 – the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women – shines a light on an issue that is a daily reality for far too many women around the world. In the global textile industry especially, this violence often remains invisible:
Harassment, discrimination, intimidation of unions, lack of complaint mechanisms, wage theft. Things that rarely make headlines but shape the lives of millions of women.
This is where FEMNET e.V. comes in.
FEMNET is a women’s rights organization based in Bonn that has been fighting for fair working conditions in the fashion industry for more than fifteen years – right where most of our clothes are made: in the Global South. FEMNET works closely with local unions and partner organizations, supports women directly, strengthens their rights, and creates safe channels to make grievances visible.
One example is the legal aid app Sromik Jigyasha – Workers’ Queries, developed in Bangladesh. More than 27,000 garment workers already use it to anonymously report issues, check wages, access legal information, or request support. Many women have received wage compensation, maternity benefits, or other payments for the first time – rights that had been withheld from them for years.
And FEMNET goes further: beyond labor rights, the organization is now addressing the severe environmental impact of textile production. Together with experts, they developed an action plan against water pollution in production hotspots – including wells and water filters designed to provide clean water to 10,000 people.
That’s impact you can feel. And it’s exactly the kind of work we want to support.
For many people, this week is about shopping – fair enough. But it’s also a moment where we can collectively shift attention to something that matters. We want to use the visibility that Black Friday brings and redirect it to where it’s needed most.
That’s why we’re donating one euro to FEMNET e.V. for every order placed during our entire Black Week. Automatically. No code. No conditions.
Whether you buy something because you truly need it or because you want to be part of this impact – every single euro goes directly into projects that protect and empower women in the textile industry.
For us, this isn’t about image. It’s about consistency. If we talk about fair fashion, that includes taking responsibility not only in our own supply chains but also by supporting organizations that work systemically, long-term, politically, and with real impact.
Thank you for being part of this. And thank you for helping shape the future of this industry.
