From the seed capsules of the castor oil plant (Ricinus communis), a 100% organic product is created: The oil from the seeds is used to produce an innovative yarn that is stirring up the nylon market as a high-tech fiber with a green soul known as 'EVO® by Fulgar'. Extracted from the oil of the castor seed, the Evo® fiber is spun into a fine, smooth yarn, which we then use to knit and sew some of our products. Plant technology 2.0!
EVO® fibres have a number of positive properties that are ideal for our hosiery: The fibres are ultra-light (25% less weight compared to a 100% polyester product), they dry very quickly (twice as fast as a 100% nylon fabric), have excellent elasticity, are thermally insulating and do not need to be ironed. EVO® is also DIN CERTCO and Oeko-Tex certified.
EVO® is made from castor oil. Castor is a very fast-growing and frugal crop that cannot be used for food purposes. In cultivation, it does not require high amounts of water, nor does it occupy cultivable land for food crops. Since nylon is normally made from petroleum, EVO® is simply an ingenious plant-based and renewable alternative! For more information, take a look here .
Since fine stockings should be washed at the lowest possible temperature - preferably not hotter than 40°C - hand washing is particularly suitable for our EVO® pieces. You can use shampoo for this. If you don't have time for hand washing, you can also put the stockings in the washing machine (laundry bag highly recommended!) with a little bit of delicate detergent and on a delicate cycle to protect the fabric from rubbing against other clothes.
Textiles with EVO® should not necessarily be tumble-dried, but rather dried in the fresh air. This is not only good for the environment, but also for the fine material. Although it is tempting to let the fine stockings dry quickly on the radiator, we would advise against it: The heat damages the elastane fibres and your stockings wear out faster. The colour also suffers and can fade.
Thanks to the high elasticity of the fabric, there is no need to iron EVO® textiles. The next time you wear it, it nestles smoothly against your skin again.
