The fashion industry alone creates a huge environmental and social footprint. According to studies, the industry is the second largest polluter - just behind the oil industry. It produces more greenhouse gas emissions than all international flights and ships combined, emitting over a billion tons of CO2 in just one year.
That is why we have teamed up with ConClimate. This is a team of experts in climate and sustainability management. With their services, they support companies in their sustainable transformation.
One value we consult to track our emissions is the PCF (Product Carbon Footprint). This was calculated for 2020 by ConClimate on a product-specific basis and was 1020.7 t Co2. This includes all indirect emissions that occur until the product leaves the warehouse. This includes fibre origin, yarn production, material production as well as dyeing, bleaching and finishing. But cutting, sewing and storage also contribute to the calculation of this value.
Parcel shipping to your home is excluded from this calculation, as this is already offset by the climate-neutral shipping of DHL GoGreen.
ConClimate calculated a CCF (Corporate Carbon Footprint) value of 30.2 t for our office location in Cologne for the year 2020. In the calculation, we were also able to calculate the Co2 emissions of our erlich employees per capita. This was 1.68 t Co2 for 2020. Interesting to know: The average German citizen caused Co2 emissions of 7.9 t in 2019.

In the course of the CCF, we were involved in reforestation in Guanaré, Uruguay. The aim was to create usable land that can be used for a variety of purposes. Not only can more water and nutrients be created through this, but the wood raw materials obtained through created forest areas can also be chalked up as a success.
The emissions of the PCF are offset by a solar energy project in Jaloya, India. Solar parks are being built for this purpose, through which 349,000 MWh of clean electricity can be generated annually. The electricity generated is fed into the local grid, replacing the equivalent amount of electricity that would otherwise have been generated by fossil fuels. In addition to the energy supply, the project also contributes to the improvement of the infrastructure and the creation of new employment opportunities.
