EVO®: The Plant-Based Nylon Alternative Made from Castor Oil
An innovative biopolymer yarn, EVO® by Fulgar, is made from the seed pods of the castor bean plant – also known as the wonder tree. This high-tech fiber is shaking up the nylon market with its green credentials and forms the basis of our sheer stockings.
EVO® by Fulgar is a yarn made of 100% bio-based biopolymer. Derived from castor bean oil, the fiber is spun into a fine, smooth yarn. This is what our sheer stockings and socks are made of – Plant Technology 2.0. EVO® is DIN CERTCO and OEKO-TEX certified.
Properties of EVO®
EVO® fibers offer ideal properties for fine stockings:
- Ultra-light – 25% less weight than comparable polyester products
- Fast-drying – twice as fast as nylon
- Excellent elasticity and thermal insulation
- Iron-free and dimensionally stable
- DIN CERTCO and OEKO-TEX certified
Castor bean is a fast-growing and undemanding crop that is not used for food. It doesn't require much water to grow, nor does it compete with food crops for agricultural land. Since conventional nylon is made from petroleum, EVO® is a plant-based and renewable alternative – an important step away from fossil resources.
EVO® at erlich textil
We use EVO® for our fine stockings and socks – where the special properties of the fiber come into their own. The ultra-light, quick-drying fiber ensures a barely noticeable feel and long durability.
Proper care for EVO®
Washing:
Hand wash EVO® stockings, preferably with hair shampoo, at a maximum of 40 °C. Alternatively, use a laundry bag with a mild detergent on a gentle cycle – this protects the delicate fabric from friction.
Drying:
Air dry, do not tumble dry or place on a radiator. Heat damages the elastane fibers – the stockings will lose their shape more quickly and the color may fade.
Ironing:
Not necessary. Thanks to its high elasticity, EVO® smooths itself out against the skin when worn.
