You can only change what you know. That's why we have ConClimate calculate where our greenhouse gas emissions actually occur – in the product and in the office. The figures are here.
For the 2021 financial year, ConClimate calculated our product-specific carbon footprint at 1,158.1 t CO2. This covers all indirect emissions up to the point the product leaves our warehouse: fibre origin, yarn production, material production, dyeing, bleaching, finishing, cutting, sewing and storage.
Calculation year: 2021. Calculated by ConClimate.
For our office in Cologne, ConClimate determined a CCF of 49.9 t CO2 for 2021. These are the emissions from heating, water consumption, company cars and electricity – everything that comes with daily office operations.
Calculation year: 2021. Calculated by ConClimate.
Climate protection projects we fund
Independently of our own carbon footprint, we fund two external climate protection projects.
Gas treatment in Istanbul, Turkey: at two landfill sites, escaping methane is captured and converted into electricity instead of escaping uncontrolled into the atmosphere.
Solar energy in Jaloya, India: solar parks generate 349,000 MWh of electricity from renewable sources each year and create local jobs.
What we are not claiming here
We do not call erlich textil climate neutral. We do not offset our emissions against the projects we fund. And we do not present climate neutrality as a label. Funding these projects is additional support for climate protection – nothing more, nothing less.
