A bralette is a wireless, usually unpadded and above all closure-free bra that prioritises comfort over strong support and is simply pulled on and off over the head. Instead of underwires and moulded cups, a bralette is usually made from soft fabric that wraps the bust in its natural shape without shaping it. It does not pinch, does not dig in and is often so light you barely feel it. In this article we explain what defines a bralette, how it differs from a classic bra and who it suits.
What Is a Bralette?
A bralette is the closure-free and wireless alternative to a classic bra. It is either unlined or only lightly lined. Support comes not from a rigid frame, but from the cut and an elastic band under the bust that holds the bralette in place.
Our bralettes are made from lace from Hungary, from modal, and from mesh. Our styles run from XS to XXL or 34-44, even 46, so you go by your dress size rather than cup sizes.

Bralette vs. Bra: The Differences
Construction and Fit
The biggest difference is the missing closure. A classic bra fastens at the back, supports the bust with or without wires and firm cups, and gives more hold and shape. A bralette skips this and wraps the bust in its natural shape, held by an elastic band under the bust. That is more comfortable, but offers less support overall.
Sizing
Our bralettes run in standard sizes XS to XXL or 34-46. Classic bras use cross sizes, the combination of band and cup. For our classic bras that means bands from 70 to 95 and cups A to E, around 30 cross sizes in total. We explain how cross sizes work in detail in our post on cross sizes. With bralettes the size range is much more relaxed, because their greater elasticity makes them comfortable across several cup sizes.
Feel
A bralette often goes unnoticed in everyday wear because it sits so lightly. No pinching, no digging in. An underwire bra is more present, but gives noticeably more structure.
Who Is a Bralette For?
A bralette works especially well if you have a small to medium bust and value comfort over strong support. Under shirts, at home or on quiet days it is a pleasant choice.
If you need a lot of support and shaping, a classic bra is the better choice. To be honest: a bralette does not give strong support, our bras range from cups A to E. If you waver between the two, simply combine them. Many wear bralettes day to day and reach for a bra when they want more hold.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a bralette give enough support?
For a small to medium bust, yes, in everyday wear and quieter moments. For strong support or sport with a lot of movement, a bra with an adjustable band or a sports bra is the better choice.
What size do I need in a bralette?
Wireless bralettes run from XS to XXL or 34-46, so you go by your dress size. If you are between two sizes, take the smaller one for more hold through a slightly firmer fit.
Can you wear a bralette under shirts?
Yes. Smooth bralettes in modal or lyocell barely show under shirts. Lace bralettes can shimmer through thin fabrics, which is either part of the look or not, depending on what you want.
Bralette or bra for a larger bust?
For a larger bust, a bra usually gives more hold and shape. A bralette is still possible, but feels looser.
How do you wash a bralette?
Best at 30 °C with a delicates detergent, ideally in a laundry bag. Lace and mesh are delicate, so skip the tumble dryer. Always check the specific care label to make sure you look after your new favourite bralette properly.
